The Sixth annual "Montana Open" will be held on January 28th & 29th, 2012.
It will be held at Big Sky Archery, which is located at 77 Laura Luise Lane, Bozeman, MT.
No membership in the NFAA or MAAI is necessary. ANYONE can come and shoot! Bring your friends and hunting buddies.
Format: One 300 Vegas round will be shot on each day (Saturday and Sunday). We will not be separating the archers by different equipment, by age, or by sex. All men, Women, BHFS, FS, Traditional, fingers... will shoot together. This will allow archers to compete against other shooters of similar ability. In the "Flights" division, each flight will have 10 shooters, with the first 3 places winning money. The payout system in the "flights" is set up so that there is a decrease in cash for each lower flight. The flighting will not be done until AFTER both rounds have been completed. This will basically make the payout random for anything but the very first flight. This flighting system will make sandbagging nearly impossible. The "Championship" division will have a standard cash payout using the NFAA system. We will continue to use the normal NFAA classes for youth shooters. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in these classes.
Entry fees: $100 for championship, $30 for flights, and $10 for youth divisions. A late fee of $5 will be added to each shooter that registers late (this fee will be kept by the MAAI). 90 % pay back in the Championship division. 75% of the entry fees in the Flights Division will be paid back to the shooters. Payout checks will be mailed out approximately one week from the end of the shoot. There will be no cash, or checks, given out at the shoot. Make sure you provide a correct mailing address!!!
All Championship shooters, and Flights shooters that shoot a 296 or better on Saturday, will shoot the 11:30 line on Sunday. You must shoot in your designated time, or the Sunday score will be counted as incomplete. The remaining flight archers and the youth classes can select a 1st and 2nd choice for a Sunday shooting time. This will be done on a first come first served basis with preverence given to those who registered first.
